A Musical Journey to Life on Other Worlds.
On his EP “Icy Worlds” Andreas Baaden releases new versions of tracks from his 2022 album “Night Walk”, released on MellowJet Records. The two part long track “Icy Worlds in a Habitable Zone”, which runs over 18 minutes in total, is now available in danceable single versions and an “Alien Life Mix.” Also included is a new version of “Lunar Jam”, timed to coincide with the Artemis II lunar flight. And as a preview of the upcoming album, the EP features the “Alien Voices Mix” of the melancholic track “Circles” (a longer version has already been released on Bandcamp).
“Icy Worlds in a Habitable Zone” imagines a journey to Europa, a moon of Jupiter (Part I), and to Enceladus, a moon of Saturn (Part II). Both are icy moons and actually lie outside the habitable zone around the Sun. But the immense gravity of the two giant planets ensures that it is relatively warm beneath the ice of both moons – there are vast oceans there that are deeper than Earth’s, and in which life is suspected to exist. The search for extraterrestrial life can unite humanity and give it a shared vision.
“Lunar Jam”, born from an extended improvisation over a driving Moog sequence, leads us to Earth’s moon. “Go to the moon”, John F. Kennedy proclaimed in 1961 – and they succeeded. The Apollo spirit of that era shows: People can achieve anything if they just want to. So why not overcome hunger, environmental destruction, and disease?
“Circles” from Andreas Baaden’s upcoming, as-yet-untitled album plays with the idea that humanity comes into contact with an extraterrestrial civilization. An event that would immensely expand the horizons of human imagination—and would it finally unite humanity?
Eine musikalische Reise zu Leben auf anderen Welten
Auf seiner EP „Icy Worlds“ veröffentlicht Andreas Baaden neue Versionen von Titeln aus seinem 2022 bei MellowJet Records veröffentlichten Album „Night Walk“. Die insgesamt über 18 Minuten lange zweiteilige Suite „Icy Worlds in a Habitable Zone“ gibt es jetzt in tanzbaren Single-Versionen und einem „Alien Life Mix“. Dazu kommt eine neue Version von „Lunar Jam“, passend zum Mondflug von Artemis II. Und als Vorgeschmack auf das kommende Album ist noch der „Alien Voices Mix“ des melancholischen Stückes „Circles“ auf der EP (eine längere Version davon ist bereits auf Bandcamp erschienen).
„Icy Worlds in a Habitable Zone“ vertont eine Reise zu Europa, Mond des Jupiter (Part I), und zu Enceladus, Mond des Saturn (Part II). Beide sind Eismonde und liegen eigentlich außerhalb der lebensfreundlichen Zone um die Sonne. Aber die gewaltige Schwerkraft der beiden Riesenplaneten sorgt dafür, dass es unter dem Eis der beiden Monde relativ warm ist – dort befinden sich ausgedehnte Ozeane, die tiefer als die der Erde sind, und in denen Leben vermutet wird. Die Suche nach außerirdischem Leben kann die Menschheit vereinen und ihr eine gemeinsame Vision vermitteln.
Zum Mond der Erde führt „Lunar Jam“, entstanden aus einer ausgedehnten Improvisation zu einer treibenden Moog-Sequenz. „Go to the moon“, verkündete John F. Kennedy 1961 – und es gelang. Der Apollo-Spirit von damals zeigt: Die Menschen können alles schaffen, wenn sie es nur wollen. Warum also nicht Hunger, Umweltzerstörung und Krankheiten überwinden?
„Circles“ vom kommenden, noch unbetitelten Album von Andreas Baaden spielt mit der Vorstellung, dass die Menschheit mit einer außerirdischen Zivilisation in Kontakt tritt. Ein Ereignis, das die Kreise menschlicher Vorstellung immens erweitern würde – und würde das die Menschheit endlich vereinen?
